Grand Auction

Thank you to those that attended and supported the 37th Annual Grand Auction!

We had a wonderful evening with over 300 guests on Saturday, January 26. Everyone celebrated our Chinese New Year theme with some amazing outfits. The CHC Jazz Band entertained us for the first part of the evening followed by a special surprise performance from the CHC Dance Troupe led by Ms. Ericka Ricks. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner featuring carved duck, steamed rockfish, "New Years" shrimp, chinese long beans and more, catered by none other than Aladdin who did a tremendous job. This year several of the Upper School students created stunning Chinese character artwork in addition to all of the student created Lower School projects that parents were eager to purchase.

Our live auction was very exciting this year with the introduction of packages like the L.A. Clippers courtside seats, a stay at Cape Henry West in Hot Springs, VA, and a bourbon tasting and dinner at The Cavalier Hotel.  Perhaps the most thrilling part of the evening was our Raise the Paddle for the new Lower School Library renovation project.  Parents, alumni, and friends of CHC showed their unwavering support with a record-breaking level of donations to the project.

Cape Henry has announced that it will relocate and expand our current Lower School library to the second floor of the Sims building. The new library will feature floor to ceiling windows and be expanded to 1700 square-foot open concept space with natural light. While retaining traditional print publications, emphasis will be on creating a collaborative environment, complete with multi-purpose media and technology spaces that will allow for small group instruction, video conferencing and video editing. Equipped with movable and flexible walls and furnishings, NOVO touch interactive boards, Oculus virtual reality glasses, and state-of-the-art video conferencing and editing equipment, the newly renovated library will be a space that will enhance the academic experience for all of our students.
We'd like to thank all of our auction sponsors, item donors, volunteers and attendees for making this year's auction another record-breaking year, bringing in over $350,000 for Cape Henry. We hope to see you again next year!

There were a number of items that were not purchased from the silent auction. They are available right now as part of our post-event online auction. The highest bid as of 11:59 p.m. on February 15 will "win" the item. All items also have a "Buy It Now" option if you would like to purchase the item outright. If you are already registered on BidPal, you may sign in using your email address and BidPal password. If you are new to BidPal, you will need to setup an account in order to bid on the items. This auction ends at 11:59 p.m. on February 15. All sales are final. Items may be picked up in the Development Office once payment is provided. Click here to see the online auction.
