We are excited to offer the students of Cape Henry Collegiate Lower School a variety of wonderful programs ranging from athletics to chess to engineering.

Soccer Shots
The pros from Soccer Shots return to Cape Henry after a fantastic winter session. This uniquely designed program introduces children to soccer in a fun, safe and controlled environment. Students will learn basic soccer skills, participate in fun games and enjoy healthy competition. Soccer Shots emphasizes character-forming lessons such as fair play, individual concentration, cooperation and encouragement.

Art Adventures
Do you have a love for art? Let’s unlock our imagination by creating beautiful nature-inspired pieces using paints, water colors, pastels, and many other fun materials.

Flag Tag (Kabaddi for Kids)
Step onto the wrestling mat and get ready for a wild ride with Flag Tag. Inspired by the ancient Indian sport of kabaddi, Flag Tag is an action-packed adventure for kids of all ages. Defend your flag, tag your opponents and dodge, duck, dip and dive your way to victory. With teamwork and giggles aplenty, this is one experience your kids won't forget. Gather your squad and get ready to rule the mat.

Girls Just Want to Have Fun
Calling all girls for strictly girl fun! We will do hair, paint nails, play games, and make bracelets. Ms. Elliott will style your hair with beautiful braids, twists, buns, flowers and ribbons. Freely express your creativity while crafting, coloring or painting. It will be like a mini sleepover each week. Gather your best girlfriends and sign up together to make it even more fun!

Rising Stars
Whether your child is a natural performer or more comfortable in the audience, this program is designed to introduce public speaking, creative movement, performance technique and social skills in a safe and nurturing environment. Our goal is to engage students through games and exercises to help build confidence, encourage creative thinking, improve self-esteem and cultivate leadership skills, while having fun and motivating them to become communicators and participants in everyday life.

Paint-a-Palooza
Do you love to draw and paint? This program caters to those who are interested in pushing their skills further, while creating paintings along with the instructor. Learn a variety of painting techniques while you explore a range of paint media. Watercolor, tempera and acrylic paints will be used to create beautiful works that parents will want to frame.

Dodgeball

Indoor Field Hockey
Come out and learn the game many girls love. You find that you have peace of mind and can enjoy yourself, get more sleep, rest when you know that it was a one hundred percent effort that you gave. “A good hockey player plays where the puck is. A great hockey player plays where the puck is going to be.”

Lego Blast
Students will be asked to take on the Lego challenge, completing a variety of tasks and challenges. Students will have the opportunity to work together with friends and use their own imagination to build. The tasks are endless...a dream house, a knight's castle, a playground, an amusement park or maybe a Minecraft world.

Rock-It Science: Springtime Labs
Spring is finally here so let’s get exploring! We will plant seeds, produce rainbow caterpillar reactions and explore insects. We will whip up a batch of springtime slime too! These are just a few labs we will conduct as we celebrate warmer days. Say goodbye to winter and hello to spring.

Dynamic Basketball
You have to do the drills to gain the skills. Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach Mark Hall will balance skill development and fundamentals with games, contests and fun. Students will enjoy developing their ball handling, passing, shooting and defensive skills throughout this program.

Barre for Kids
Barre is a technique inspired by elements of ballet, yoga and pilates. In this class, students will participate in a fun workout that will focus on strength, endurance, balance and flexibility. Dance and yoga games will be incorporated as well.

Kickball
Lace up your sneakers for some exciting afterschool kickball action. This program is highly competitive and extremely fun. Participants will learn the basics of the game while fine-tuning their kicking, catching, throwing, fielding and kickball skills. Participants will play several fun variations of traditional kickball. As always, fair play, positive attitudes and teamwork are the central focus of this camp.

Lego Blasts
Students will have the opportunity to stretch their imaginations and enjoy follow-along LEGO challenges independently and with their friends. As a bonus, students will also get to explore invitations to play with magna tile sets! There will be mazes, simple 3-D structures and free-build opportunities galore.

Seasonal Ceramics
Students will envelope themselves in the world of clay while learning the techniques and tools commonly used in ceramics. Participants will create works inspired by the fall and winter seasons, and their favorite holidays. Using a variety of methods including hand-building, modeling, extrusions, slab building, press molding and glazing. Each student will have several pieces to take home and display proudly!

LEGO Blast

Rock-It Science: Winter Wonderland
Science is super cool, but even more so in the winter. We will find out how penguins stay dry, mix up some fake snow, go ice fishing and more! So put up your winter gear and get ready to stay warm inside as we explore super cool winter labs. Join Miss Tammy and Mr. Cory, and let's get exploring!

Kickball

Tennis
Want to learn a sport that you can play forever? Do you already know how to play and want to fine-tune your strokes, work on strategy and get in some extra practice? If the answer is yes, join Mrs. Harrison on the courts. This program is open to students of all skill levels, from beginner to experienced and will include a mix of fun and engaging drills, games and conditioning. All players are required to wear athletic shoes. Please contact Mrs. Harrison if you need to borrow a racquet.

Lower School Flag Football (Ages 6 and up)
It is football time again at Cape Henry! Staff will lead flag football, teaching the fundamentals of catching, passing, blocking, deflagging, defensive positioning, punting and kicking. Participants will also have the opportunity to play in skills competitions and scrimmages. Throw on your jersey and grab your flags, because it is football time!
