  • Summer at the Cape Day Camps

    DAY CAMPS: Ages 3 - 11
    Looking for an exciting summer experience? Join our summer day camps to experience endless fun and engagement. Spend your summer playing on Cape Henry’s state-of-the-art playground. Reacquaint yourself with friends from the past or meet new friends as you continue to grow and develop. Our Summer at the Cape Day Camps focuses on fun while also bridging the learning gap between school years. No matter your age, your days will be filled with everything from academic engagement to swim lessons, craft making to sports and games, science experiments to fun-filled field trips, and much more. All Day Camps are led by full-time teachers at Cape Henry Collegiate or teachers from Virginia Beach City Public Schools. Each teacher has multiple years of experience within our school community. All full-day campers receive a full-service, well-balanced lunch from the newly renovated Café Dolphin, and all full- and half-day campers receive a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack and drink. Our Summer at the Cape Day Camps are licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services.

    Exercise and Fun:
    Campers take part in daily free play and structured activities within all of Cape Henry’s fantastic facilities. Cape Henry boasts a spacious, air-conditioned field house with P.E. equipment and supplies for every game and activity. A turf field and multiple grass athletic fields host countless outdoor games, and a state-of-the-art playground caters to the imagination of all age groups. Twice a week campers will immerse themselves in Cape Henry’s science labs, working on experiments and exercises to learn and test the theme of the week. In addition to these wonderful and creative topics, students will spend time with age-appropriate reading, writing, and math while having the opportunity to work on summer academic assignments for the upcoming school year.

    Little Dolphins Day Camp: Ages 3 and 4 (Prekindergarten)
    Immerse your child in the Little Dolphin’s weekly fun! This hands-on, interactive, and engaging program will provide up to 10 weeks of fun learning for your child. Your child will spend the weeks learning about the Great Outdoors, Lifecycles of plants and animals, Healthy Living, and so much more! Avoid the Summer Slide with daily learning designed to build on the year’s studies.

    Sandfiddlers Day Camp: Ages 5 and 6 ( Kindergarten - Grade 1)
    Join an exceptional lineup of educators dedicated to engaging and hands-on lessons, including collaborative learning, interactive curriculum, as well as STEM and STEAM integrated into daily learning. Immerse yourself in the fun and exciting themes including Virginia’s State Parks, Recycling, Life Cycles, and much more! Students will avoid the Summer Slide with lessons designed to build on the year’s learning! 

    Dolphins Day Camp: Ages 7 and 8 ( Grades 2 and 3)
    Avoid the Summer Slide with a fun, engaging program! Integrate STEM and STEAM with collaborative, hands-on lessons each week. With weekly themes sure to excite, join the Dolphins for a summer full of fun learning, including the Great Outdoors, Composting, Lifecycles, engineering terrariums, benefits of healthy living, and much more! Students are encouraged to bring summer work to complete before the upcoming school year.

    Sharks Day Camp: Ages 9 - 11 ( Grades 4 - 6)
    Spend your Summer with Cape Henry Collegiate’s engaging educators, experiencing the thrills of the Natural Wonders of the World, The Great Outdoors, Camping, exciting American History, and use your newfound forensic skills to solve live-action mysteries. Do not miss out on this one-of-a-kind program designed to avoid the Summer Slide while learning about new and exciting themes each week and integrate a collaborative experience into the world of STEM and STEAM! Students are encouraged to bring summer work to complete before the upcoming school year.

    Full-Day Dates: June 7 - August 6 (Nine weeks) | FD: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. | Tuition: $300 per week (lunch included)

    Half-Day Dates:
    June 7 - August 6 (Nine weeks) | AM: 8:00 a.m. - noon | PM: 12:30 - 4:00 p.m. | Tuition: $200 per week

    Day Camp Discount Options: 
    • A camper must be registered for a full-day Day Camp selection to be eligible for a discount package.
    • Discount packages may not be combined.
    • Consecutive weeks NOT required
      • 9 WEEK: Select nine (9) weeks of Full-Day Day Camp to receive 20% off. 
      • 6 WEEK: Select six (6) weeks of Full-Day Day Camp to receive 15% off. 
      • 3 WEEK: Select three (3) weeks of Full-Day Day Camp to receive 10% off. 
    Athletic/Specialty Camp Discount:

    • A camper must be registered for a full-day (Full-Day or AM and PM) of Athletic and/or Specialty Camp selections to be eligible for the discount package.
    • Discount packages may not be combined.
    • Consecutive weeks NOT required
      • Select four (4) full weeks of Athletic and/or Specialty camps to receive 10% off. (8 Half-Day or 4 Full-Day offerings)

  • Summer at the Cape Policies

    The Lower School Office will serve as the Summer Programs Office From June to early August. The Summer Program's direct dial number is (757) 963-8252 from June 7 - August 13. Prior to June 7, please contact the Director of Auxiliary Programs at or (757) 963-8241 with questions.

    Early registration is encouraged! Camp sizes are limited. Registration payment must be paid in full no later than one week prior to participation in Summer at the Cape. You must register and pay for a full week of camp even if the child is not there the entire week. Your child is not considered registered for a camp unless full payment is completed. When registration payment is not received one week prior to the program's start date, Cape Henry Collegiate reserves the right to remove a camper from a Summer program roster. If registering within one week of the program's start date, payment must be completed upon registration. Your payment must be made at least one week in advance in order to determine if enrollment is sufficient. A payment plan may be established if requested in writing more than one week prior to the start of the program in which the camper is enrolled. Registration must be completed online. Phoned or faxed registration will not be accepted. If you have any questions regarding Summer Programs, please contact the Director of Auxiliary Programs at or (757) 963-8241.

    Cape Henry Collegiate reserves the right to modify or cancel any summer program with insufficient enrollment. All camps must meet minimum enrollment numbers no later than one week prior to the respective program's start date to proceed. If the Summer Programs Office cancels a program, a full refund will be given or may be applied to another camp.

    A refund will only be permitted if requested in writing more than one week prior to the start of the session in which the camper is enrolled. Fifteen percent (15%) of the camp fee is nonrefundable within one week of the beginning of the session. Campers withdrawn less than three days prior to the start of camp are responsible for the full tuition. Transfers are permissible up to two weeks prior to the start of camp. There are no prorated fees or refunds for campers arriving after the beginning of the session, leaving before its completion, or missing any time during camp.

    In accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia law, each camper must provide Cape Henry Collegiate with a copy of the health form MCH-213G before the first day of their respective camp. The completed MCH-213G must include documentation of all age-appropriate immunizations and a physical examination. All documents must include the date of the physical exam, and the examining physician must sign the immunization form. This health form is required for enrollment in all independent and public schools. Children ages five and under are required to have the MCH-213G on file, and it must be dated within one year before the camp start date. Cape Henry Collegiate students do not need to submit this form for Summer Programs since it is already on file.

    The Virginia Department of Social Services licenses Summer at the Cape specialty and day camps, as well as, Extended School Day Program (ESDP). In accordance with the Social Services policy, we are required to document the identity and age of all children enrolled in these programs. Proof of your child's identity may include a birth certificate or a birth registration card. If your child is not currently an enrolled student at Cape Henry Collegiate, you will need to bring this documentation to the School before the start of camp. Athletic camps are not licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services and do not require proof of birth or Virginia School Health Entrance forms.

    There will be a Camp Nurse on campus from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital (SVBGH) is one mile from Cape Henry's campus. Severe emergencies requiring immediate medical attention will be taken to SVBGH either by car or ambulance. If a camper takes medication, a separate form will be sent to the parent for specific instructions and a doctor's authorization. This form and the medication must be given to either the Director of Auxiliary Programs or the Camp Nurse by the parent/guardian of the camper.

    Lunch is included for all full-day camps unless otherwise noted. If lunch is not included with the camp, you may purchase lunch for $30 per week or $7 per day. Please let and know of any food allergies.

    Cape Henry Collegiate cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment for students with severe allergies and is not a food allergen-free school. Our goal is to minimize the exposure risks to allergens posing a threat to students and educating the community about their needs. We ask all families to please avoid packing snacks with peanuts and tree nuts in the ingredients. Please contact for any food allergies.

    Any child leaving camp during camp hours must be picked up in the Lower School Office by a parent, guardian, or family member. Advance notice is much appreciated. Please inform the Director of Auxiliary Programs and your child's camp instructor in writing/email of early departures.

    If your camper is going to be absent, please call and leave a voicemail message at (757) 963-8252. Please do not forget to include the date of the absence, your child's name, and the specific camp in which he or she is enrolled.

    Back by popular demand, Paw Patrol returns for its second year of protecting our community. Take to the air with Skye, learn safety with Chase and Marshall, engineer with Rubble and Rocky, and explore the outdoors with Tracker and Zuma! Campers will love learning all about the jobs of their favorite Paw Patrol characters in this fun, hands-on camp. Join us for an exciting week of Paw Patrol adventures!

    Dynamite Dinosaurs | June 14 - 17
    Everyone’s favorite extinct species! This year we will mold and create dinosaur eggs, and go on a one of a kind dinosaur ice excavation We will work on creating a mini prehistoric model with new miniatures to choose from and learn fun facts about these fascinating creatures.

    Backyard Summer Camp | June 14 - 17
    Okay, so we won’t be in your backyard, but this camp will be full of good old-fashioned backyard fun! This year’s new labs will include making bug catchers, mixing up a batch of mud slime, and designing rain gages! We will finish up the week with a fun indoor obstacle course full of treasures! This will be a week of science, games, and art that you won’t want to miss!

    The Great Volcano Experiment | June 21 - 25
    The classic volcano experiment has always been a favorite! Children love to explode things and see them erupt, and we will put this classic experiment to the test. This year each camper will build an individual volcano that they will be able to erupt over and over again! We will build a large group volcano that we will erupt twice this year using a heated reaction and the classic Mento/Coke reaction! Along with testing out various reactions on our volcanos, we will play games, create art, and learn about some real active volcanoes! Sign up today for an explosively good time! 

    The Art of Cooking | June 21 - 25 | July 19 - 23
    Cooking is truly an art form! We will explore not only the science of cooking but make beautiful creations that may be almost too pretty to eat! Galaxy cookies , dinosaur waffles, and veggie animals just to name a few. No need to bring a snack for this camp, we will do plenty of taste testing and decorate containers to take some home too! * ingredients may include milk, eggs, and glutens

    Outer Space | June 28 - July 2
    What’s more fascinating than the great beyond? We will explore the solar system as we conduct science and art labs inspired by outer space. We will stargaze, go on moonwalks, and launch rocket ships! Keep an eye out for any asteroids soaring through space and get ready for a fun, out-of-this-world week! With so much to explore, there are endless things to learn. If you explored with us last year, join us again for all new art and science labs including new additions to our space room!

    Treasure Hunters | June 28 - July 2
    Get ready to perform tasks that will lead to daily treasures! New and classic daily themes including super heroes & Pokemon will keep us busy solving puzzles, experimenting, and collecting treasures. We will discover treasures all week and campers will design their own treasure chest to keep their treasures safe. Let’s get exploring!

    Super Secret Spy Training Camp | July 6 - 9 | July 19 - 23
     If you missed out last year on this fun adventurous camp, it’s not too late to get the training you need to earn your Super Spy Status! Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to explore glow-in-the-dark science, go on scavenger hunts, and decode clues that lead to top secret messages! Get those spy decoding notebooks out and be ready for some secret agent spy training as we sneak through obstacle courses and use our observation skills to figure out clues to a top secret mystery! Sorry, we can only reveal this all-new mystery to campers with their special agent IDs.

    Super Slime Camp | July 6 - 9 | July 12 - 16
    Let there be slime! By far, slime is the most requested science experiment! What’s not fun about slime? It’s slimy, stretching, sometimes bouncy, and the coolest polymer around! Each day we will explore a different type based on all new fun themes. We will do some cool art labs inspired by the day’s theme, too! So no need to ask if we are going to do slime today because we definitely will!

    Art Lab! | July 12 - 16
    This year I am excited to introduce the sibling to Rock-It Science, ART LAB! Science is a highly concrete subject in which students rarely have the opportunity to be creative. By integrating art projects into your science lessons, you can create super cool art work and learn some super cool science too! Join us as we create beautiful art inspired by volcanoes, insects, dinosaurs , and more!

    Space Camp | July 26 - 30
    If you can’t get enough space or missed the first outer space camp this is the camp for you! This time around we will explore Saturn’s rings, make edible rocket ships, and experiment with galaxy eruptions. We will add a few new surprises to our space room too! 

    Beach Week Camp | July 26 - 30
    Put on your shades and get ready for some seaside fun. We will explore soapy sea foam, go on a seashell hunt, and make our very own underwater bottle scene. Join us as we celebrate beach life!

    Shark Week | August 2 - 6
    Today there are more than 465 known species of sharks living in our oceans. We will sink our teeth into interesting facts about sharks and create shark habitat bottles. Join us as we maneuver through a seaweed course, create shark art, and conduct experiments that will teach us about these beautiful ocean creatures. 

    Blast Off Camp | August 2 - 6
    Whether it’s blasting objects through the air or exploring the cosmos, all kids love to see and send things flying! Air rockets, Mento eruptions, baking soda explosions, are just a few ways we will get things soaring. We may even sneak a little engineering lesson in but our campers may not notice because they will be too busy hurling plastic bottles, planes, rockets,and more through the air.

    Animal Planet | August 9 - 13
    Who doesn’t love our big beautiful world of animals. We will go on a wild animal adventure and explore some domestic animals too. Get ready to collect animal badges as we search and learn fun facts about Giraffes, zebras, and many other creatures. 

    Under the Stars | August 9 - 13
    There’s so much to discover under the stars! Glow in the dark planets, campfire activities, and stardust slime will be just a few fun labs we will explore. Join us for a week under the stars!
