    Day Camp Discount Package Information:
    • Available to Little Dolphins, Sandfiddlers, Dolphins, or Sharks.
    • Before and After Care must be included to receive the Day Camp Discount package.
    • Refunds and substitutions are not permitted with the Day Camp Discount packages.
    • Registering for consecutive weeks is not required.
    • Discounts will be applied when registering for five (10%), seven (15%), or nine (20%) weeks of camps.

  • Babysitting I (June 24, 26, 28)

    Would you like to become a certified babysitter? An instructor from CPR Anywhere! will instruct boys and girls ages 9 to 14 in the skills of being a confident sitter. This three-day camp will instruct campers in childcare skills, including feeding and bathing a baby, changing a diaper, infant and child CPR, basic first aid, talking to potential clients, and much more. In the end, you will be awarded a certificate and card that you can show to prove you are a certified babysitter! Maximum of 15 campers at each session–so sign up early!

  • Chesapeake Bay Adventure Camp (July 9 - 12)

    This exciting camp enters its fifth year after four exciting summers on the Bay! The Chesapeake Bay Adventure Camp offers the opportunity to see and experience the Chesapeake Bay environmental region in all of its glory. The Chesapeake Bay Watershed is the largest estuary in North America. Explore this unique watershed environment by both land and water through a variety of exciting outdoor adventures each day. Hike historic trails that buffer the land from the beautiful coastal waters; go fishing in the Chesapeake Bay; explore the local environment from the perspective of the newest, most environmentally smart buildings and programs in the world; and challenge yourself on the obstacles at The Adventure Park! Do all of this while learning what makes your backyard such a unique environmental treasure! Sign up early to take advantage of this fun, outdoor adventure camp. Space is limited.

  • Community and Leadership Workshop (June 17 - 21)

    Community and Leadership Workshop is a unique opportunity for students to learn how to develop their business skills while impacting the world around them. Our future leaders will learn about entrepreneurship, public speaking, civic involvement, and community outreach opportunities with an engaging curriculum to channel their desire to have a positive impact on the world around them.

  • Dance Intensive (July 15 - 19)

    This one-week summer Dance Intensive runs for three hours, five days a week. Each day camp consists of one hour of Ballet Barre or Lyrical/Contemporary, one hour of jazz, and 45 minutes of choreography. Dance Intensive is intended for those who are strongly driven to excel in dance and wish to improve their technical skills, muscle strength, and power. Ballet (or twylas) and jazz shoes required.

  • Dance Intensive- Musical Theatre (June 10 - 14)

    This one-week camp will focus on the theatrical dance style that includes dance technique and acting to songs from Broadway musicals. Dancers will learn about the musical theatre dance style, watch dance videos from Broadway musicals, and will even get to take a class from a current Broadway dancer/singer/actress. This camp is intended for those who are strongly driven to excel in the art dance and that wish to improve their technical skills. Jazz shoes are required.*Special Guest Instructor: Teneise Mitchell Ellis (Monday, June 10th) Current Broadway actress in WICKED and former Radio City Rockette.   • Digital Assistants: Hey Siri, Let’s Build An AI (July 22 - 26)

    The ultimate Artificial Intelligence (AI) camp. Can you tell the difference between a human and a robot? Learn about the design and programming behind modern digital assistant software like Alexa, Siri, and Cortana in this innovative camp. Students build their own artificial intelligence personality that can answer questions, complete requests, and chat about topics of their choosing using real HTML and JavaScript code. No prior experience is required. We provide all technology on location. Campers will be thrilled to bring home their digital portfolio at the end of the week and continue to work on their AI creation or to share with friends or family. * Note: Drobots believes in the educational philosophy that students learn best when collaborating with their peers. From a social standpoint, campers learn teamwork, cooperation, and the importance of sharing and implementing ideas. This philosophy has been supported by some of the world’s leading educators and technologists and backed by extensive academic research. However, campers may ask to work by themselves upon request.

    Join us for our ultra-popular program that includes several crazy, fun versions of the game dodgeball! The emphasis is on fun, teamwork, and exercise. This camp helps develop agility, speed, and good body awareness as well as powers of analysis and problem-solving skills. Campers will work on throwing, catching, and ball-shielding skills in addition to dodging skills, all while using new-coated foam dodgeballs. These balls are perfect for safe, FUN play! We supply all the equipment. Wear gym shoes and bring a snack and a water bottle.

  • Dolphin All-Star Field Hockey Camp (August 5 - 9)

    Coaches will focus on fundamentals and small number situations, add some full field games and mix in plenty of fun. Campers will be grouped based on age and ability. Cape Henry’s state-of-the-art turf complex provides a true playing surface for field hockey. No tall grass or mud puddles. Plenty of air-conditioned indoor space means that camp will never be rained out or shortened due to high heat index or poor air quality. The air-conditioned gymnasium provides an opportunity for campers to learn the indoor game as well as the outdoor game–it’s like two camps in one! Recently, Camp Director, Mrs. Kate Barber Kinnear, completed her first season as Cape Henry’s Varsity Head Coach. In her first season, she led her team to a State Tournament Championship, earned TCIS Tournament Championship, and TCIS Coach of the Year honors. Coach Kinnear was a long time member of the USA Field Hockey Program and Captain of the 2008 Olympic team. Don’t miss this phenomenal field hockey opportunity!

  • Dolphin Boys Lacrosse Camps: Advanced Lacrosse (July 15 - 19)

    Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the country at the youth and high school levels; don’t miss out on the action-packed fun the sport offers. The camp is run by Cape Henry Varsity Boys Lacrosse Head Coach and former UVA Men’s Lacrosse Midfielder, Mr. Joe Thompson, along with current and former CHC players, all of whom have a passion for the game. Our philosophy is that to love the game, you must respect your competition and have fun playing, and that is what we strive for every day. The focus of the camp is to learn fundamental skills while enjoying the excitement of the game and to benefit from the camaraderie and lessons that lacrosse offers. Beginner and experienced campers will enjoy skill-building sessions, counselor demonstrations, and the opportunity to test their skills in numerous game-like scenarios. All players are required to wear full lacrosse equipment (helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, and lacrosse stick).

  • Dolphin Girls Lacrosse Camp (June 24 - 28)

    The Cape Henry Girls Lacrosse program looks forward to hosting a fun-filled week of camp that will suit the development of beginners through elite level players. CHC lacrosse staff and players will instruct on the basic fundamentals of the game to meet each athlete at her ability level. Basic fundamentals will be put to use in small-sided competitions, full field games, and other skill-building activities. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to hone your lacrosse skills on CHC’s state-of-the-art facilities, including a full-size turf field, air-conditioned indoor play, auditorium film sessions, and more. Campers will leave excited about the sport of lacrosse, thanks to a week of engaging play.

Advanced tennis players will work on strategy, court positioning, and shot selection, and they will be matched up with camp staff who are current or former high school or college players. Campers will enjoy individual and small-group lessons as they build upon the initial success and develop a lifelong love of tennis! Campers will participate daily in light ball drills and supervised match play, and all levels of play are invited. *CHC will utilize First Colonial Courts while Cape Henry courts are replaced*

  • Dolphin Wrestling Camps: Elite Wrestling (July 15 - 19)

    Cape Henry Collegiate wrestling is excited to offer two unique, five-day wrestling camps. The camps will be held in the spacious, air-conditioned Clarke Family Wrestling Room. CHC wrestling camps are founded on a developmental and competitive approach that centers on technique, competition, and games. Head Coach Jack Effner is committed to the total development of each camper. Campers will not only learn how to wrestle, but they will also have fun and be challenged to improve.
     
    Elite Wrestling Camp
    The Elite Wrestling Camp is geared towards Middle and Upper School wrestlers who wish to challenge themselves to be winners at the High School level. The camp will focus on developing good technique, hard drilling, and live wrestling. Coaches Jack Effner, Joe Harvich, Dalton Head, and Geoff Head are excited for you to join them for an intense week of wrestling.

    The Youth Camp will feature CHC Coaches Jack Effner and Joe Harvich along with Coaches Dalton Head, and Geoff Head. This program is geared towards Lower to Middle School aged campers. Wrestlers will learn the basics through skill training and practice sessions. They will be physically challenged through sport specific games, competitions, and great fun! Participating in this camp will improve your strength, conditioning, technique, and competitive spirit. Sign up early as the camp is limited to the first 36 registered wrestlers.

  • Drobots: Drone Escape and Rescue (July 15 - 19)

    Drone Escape and Rescue is a necessity for first responders around the world, adding a new layer of solutions to save lives across the globe. Now campers to can take part in and learn from simulated missions during this action-packed, creative, and educational program. Participants will learn to fly drones and rely on their rescue team to collect vital data in specific “rescue areas” to locate “victims” and safely rescue them. We use age-appropriate and cutting-edge technology methods available for creating plans, missions, and maps. Participants will also learn invaluable lessons on how to simply, quickly and accurately make informed and targeted suggestions for positive real-world applications.

  • Drobots: Drone Racing and Obstacle Course Challenge (July 8 - 12)

    Drone Racing is filled with pure action as students enjoy one of the world’s fastest growing sports, Drone Racing. Campers will first learn about the basic safety of drone flying and the history behind drone racing as a sport. From there, campers will progress through various skill challenges and learn how to perform various exercises and maneuvers to become familiar with the drone’s speed and agility. Flight squads post up against one another in a friendly competition when they race themselves and the clock. Students first maneuver the drone through creative obstacle courses before taking on the challenge of flying for speed. Participants contribute fully in this program as they create the design and help build the obstacle course in preparation for the last day’s final activities and competition. All campers go home with interactive workbooks and plenty of Drobots Company keepsakes and trinkets, so the memories last long beyond the summer. Drone safety and social responsibilities of flying are included in this program.

  • Minecraft™ Survival Worlds (July 29 - August 2)

    Calling all beginners, intermediate or advanced Minecrafters. Campers learn how to build and engineer projects including building to scale, mining materials, strategic planning and mapping, developing access points, preparing for the elements, and fireproofing structures. Campers will have the ability to learn about customizing maps and biomes in Minecraft™. Improve skills in survival mode and learn how to craft items that will help you survive, sustain, and prosper! Survival worlds vary based upon your level of experience. Prepare for an exciting week as campers accomplish exciting results building their one-of-a-kind Minecraft features! Camper-created projects will be accessible post camp. No prior experience is required. We provide all technology on location. Tablet, phone, and game console versions of Minecraft are not compatible. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. * Important Note: All campers are required to have a Minecraft™ account for this class. Purchase a standard account and desktop version of Minecraft™ ($26.95) at minecraft.net/store.   • Roblox® Entrepreneur: Imaginative Game Design (June 17 - 21)

    Join us for a week of Roblox, one of the fastest-growing game programming platforms on the planet. In this course, campers use the Roblox Lua code to create 3D worlds. Roblox is an entertainment platform that allows the camper to imagine, create, and play together across millions of user-created virtual worlds. Join the more than 60 million players per month and top developers making over $1 million a year. The types of gameplay on Roblox are just as limitless as the imagination of the campers themselves. Join us for a week of pure fun and learning: build the ultimate theme park, compete as a professional race car driver, star in a fashion show, become a superhero, or simply design a dream home. Campers will learn what makes a Roblox game a top hit and learn how to implement some of the same engagement and monetization strategies in their own work. In the end, all campers finish the week able to publish, share, and play games with friends on any platform from console to mobile. No prior experience is required.   • Sylvan: Middle School Grand STEM Challenge (July 22 - 26)

    Students in grades 6 - 8 work in engineering teams to plan, design, and test their original creations. They will problem-solve to build a project that serves as a solution to an exciting STEM challenge. Students will compete against children from across the US. Entries made via video will be judged at the local level and at the end of the summer by a team of judges including Sylvan, the K’NEX CEO, K’NEX STEM Engineers, and other STEM community ambassadors. Grand prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

    Artists will envelop themselves in the world of clay while learning the techniques and tools commonly used in ceramics.   • Teen Studio: Darkroom Photography (June 17 - 21)

    Young photographers become dynamic designers with the medium of light as they explore black-and-white darkroom photography as well as digital SLR photography. This class will cover composition, pinhole and SLR cameras, shooting and processing 35mm film, enlarging prints, burning and dodging, photograms, solarizing, toning, hand-coloring, digital manipulation, and photo presentation. Parents should attempt to locate an old SLR or point-and-shoot film camera with a good battery. If there isn’t a film camera already in the family, please don’t purchase one. Some cameras can be provided by the class, so contact Mr. Warden if one is needed.

  • Teen Studio: Digital Photography (July 22 - 26)

    Students will learn the fundamentals of digital photography and computer-aided manipulation. This class will cover various modes of shooting found on most digital SLR cameras: exposure control, composition, motion and portrait photography, downloading, printing, Photoshop manipulation, and photo presentation. Students should provide their own digital SLR camera with a charged battery. A small number of cameras can be provided by the class; please contact Mr. Warden as soon as possible if one is needed.

    Oil paint is a beautiful and versatile medium. A painting foundation will be presented that can easily be built upon for pursuits beyond this class. Students will create a series of paintings with the instructor that will cover a variety of subjects and painting techniques. Drawing will be taught as it applies to the subjects illustrated. Students will work from life when we take a trip outdoors to paint, and they will learn ways to look within themselves for inspiration in more intuitive painting exercises. *A list of supplies for the camp will be sent out prior to the camp’s start date.

  • Theater for the Actor (July 29 - August 9)

    This two-week program will strengthen the skills of the actor. We will focus on age-appropriate scene work, guided improvisation, voice projection, singing, and dancing. This invigorating camp will help performers fine-tune their confidence, talent, and creativity. On the last day, students will perform before an audience.

    The Volleyball Camp covers all aspects of the game of volleyball with an emphasis on fundamentals and game situation play. The camp welcomes players of all ability levels, from beginner to experienced, and players will be grouped by skill to better meet the individual needs of each participant. The technique and skills taught in this camp are designed to provide and improve upon the foundation that allows participants to develop into high-level athletes in the future. All basic skills will be covered including passing, setting, hitting, serving, defense, blocking, and offensive and defensive systems. Campers will also have the opportunity to dig deep and work hard in a positive and encouraging environment.
