  • Babysitting

    Would you like to become a certified babysitter? An instructor from CPR Anywhere! will instruct boys and girls ages 9 to 14 in the skills of being a confident sitter. This three-day camp will instruct campers in childcare skills, including feeding and bathing a baby, changing a diaper, infant and child CPR, basic first aid, talking to potential clients, and much more. At the end, you will be awarded a certificate and card that you can show to prove you are a certified babysitter! Maximum of 15 campers at each session–so sign up early!

  • Chess

    Absolute pin, battery, checkmate, dead draw, en passant? Confused? Don’t be! Learn the game of kings in a fun and relaxing environment. Chess is renowned for improving creativity, the power of concentration, critical thinking skills, memory and retention, and overall academic performance. Chess has also been shown to augment problem-solving capabilities, provide cultural enrichment, advance intellectual maturity, and enhance self-esteem. Not to mention, chess is fun!

  • Dance Intensive

    This one-week summer Dance Intensive runs for three hours, five days a week. Each day camp consists of one hour of ballet, one hour of jazz (contemporary or modern) and 45 minutes of choreography. Dance Intensive is intended for those who are strongly driven to excel in dance and wish to improve their technical skills, muscle strength, and power.

  • Dolphin All-Star Field Hockey Camp

    Coaches will focus on fundamentals and small number situations, add some full field games and mix in plenty of fun. Campers will be grouped based on age and ability. Cape Henry’s state-of-the-art turf complex provides a true playing surface for field hockey. No tall grass or mud puddles. Plenty of air-conditioned indoor space means that camp will never be rained out or shortened due to high heat index or poor air quality. The air-conditioned gymnasium provides an opportunity for campers to learn the indoor game as well as the outdoor game–it’s like two camps in one! Recently, Camp Director, Mrs. Kristen Wheeler, completed her 15th season as Cape Henry’s Varsity Head Coach. During her tenure she led her teams to 15 consecutive state tournament appearances, captured five State Championship Titles, earned four TCIS Coach of the Year honors, three TCIS Championship Titles, and two TCIS Regular Season Titles. Don’t miss this phenomenal field hockey opportunity!

  • Dolphin Girls Lacrosse Camp

    The Cape Henry Girls Lacrosse program looks forward to hosting a fun-filled week of camp that will suit the development of beginners through elite level players. CHC lacrosse staff and players will instruct on the basic fundamentals of the game to meet each athlete at her ability level. Basic fundamentals will be put to use in small-sided competitions, full field games, and other skill building activities. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to hone your lacrosse skills on CHC’s state-of-the-art facilities, including a full-size turf field, air-conditioned indoor play, auditorium film sessions, and more. Campers will leave excited about the sport of lacrosse, thanks to a week of engaging play.

  • Dolphin Tennis Academy

    The Cape Henry Collegiate Tennis program is excited to offer the Dolphin Tennis Academy with PTR-certified Head Coach Diane Deaton. During the tennis sessions, beginner and novice campers will learn the proper way to hold and swing a racquet, as well as basic ball drills and games. Advanced tennis players will work on strategy, court positioning, and shot selection, and they will be matched up with camp staff who are current or former high school or college players. Campers will enjoy individual and small-group lessons as they build upon initial success and develop a lifelong love of tennis! Campers will participate daily in light ball drills and supervised match play, and all levels of play are invited.

  • Dolphin Wrestling Camps

    Cape Henry Collegiate wrestling is excited to offer two unique, five-day wrestling camps. The camps will be held in the spacious, air-conditioned Clarke Family Wrestling Room. CHC wrestling camps are founded on a developmental and competitive approach that centers on technique, competition, and games. Head Coach Jack Effner is committed to the total development of each camper. Campers will not only learn how to wrestle, they will have fun and be challenged to improve.

    Youth Wrestling Camp
    The Youth Camp will feature CHC Coaches Jack Effner and Joe Harvich along with First Colonial Coach Will Stravino. This program is geared towards Lower to Middle School aged campers. Wrestlers will learn the basics through skill training and practice sessions. They will be physically challenged through sport specific games, competitions, and great fun! Participating in this camp will improve your strength, conditioning, technique, and competitive spirit. Sign up early as the camp is limited to the first 36 registered wrestlers.

    This is a great opportunity to learn from the best! The Elite camp will feature Ferrum College Head Coach Nate Yetzer (July 16), Washington & Lee University Head Coach Nathan Shearer (July 17), George Mason Head Coach Frank Beasley (July 18), North Carolina State University Head Coach Pat Popolizio (July 19), and Old Dominion University Head Coach Steve Martin (July 20).   • Dynamic Basketball Player Development Camp (Full-Day)

    Lace up your sneakers and get ready to go! Dynamic Basketball offers a great week of basketball to enhance your summer. Campers will enjoy learning from the best while also enhancing their skills through drills, individual competition, and games. Balanced competition makes this an enjoyable week for everyone!

  • FitLab: Peak Performance Camp

    Explore how ground-based movement combinations and basic tumbling skills can take your physical performance to the next level! This camp is great for any athlete as the results will carry over into each training discipline or sport you already practice. Join the FitLab staff to increase your mobility, improve flexibility, enhance stability, amplify power, generate endurance, and boost neuromuscular communication.   • Outbreak Volleyball Camp

    The Volleyball Camp covers all aspects of the game of volleyball with an emphasis on fundamentals and game situation play. The camp welcomes players of all ability levels, from beginner to experienced, and players will be grouped by skill to better meet the individual needs of each participant. The technique and skills taught in this camp are designed to provide and improve upon the foundation that allows participants to develop into high-level athletes in the future. All basic skills will be covered including passing, setting, hitting, serving, defense, blocking, and offensive and defensive systems. Campers will also have the opportunity to dig deep and work hard in a positive and encouraging environment.

  • Teen Studio: Airbrush

    Come explore your artistic side with the power of an airbrush at your fingertips! Working with an airbrush is a wonderfully exciting and creative experience. You will learn how to paint popular airbrush subjects like sunsets, seascapes, pillow hearts, space scenes, animal and people portraits, names and letterforms, flowers, and many other creative exercises designed to pull out the artist in you.

  • Teen Studio: Art Explosion

    Do you have an interest in the visual arts and look forward to trying new things? This Art Explosion class offers the opportunity to try techniques and media not typically offered in your regular art classes. This program will have you painting with light, using professional-style airbrush techniques, throwing on the potter’s wheel, and much more! Don’t miss this awesome opportunity to express yourself with the arts!

  • Teen Studio: Ceramics

    Artists will envelop themselves in the world of clay while learning the techniques and tools commonly used in ceramics. Students will create imaginative works using a variety of methods, including hand building, modeling, hollowing, extrusion and slab building, wheel throwing, press molding, slip casting, and glazing.

  • Teen Studio: Darkroom Photography

    Young photographers become dynamic designers with the medium of light as they explore black-and-white darkroom photography as well as digital SLR photography. This class will cover composition, pinhole and SLR cameras, shooting and processing 35mm film, enlarging prints, burning and dodging, photograms, solarizing, toning, hand-coloring, digital manipulation, and photo presentation. Parents should attempt to locate an old SLR or point-and-shoot film camera with a good battery. If there isn’t a film camera already in the family, please don’t purchase one. Some cameras can be provided by the class, so contact Mr. Warden if one is needed.

  • Teen Studio: Digital Photography

    Students will learn the fundamentals of digital photography and computer-aided manipulation. This class will cover various modes of shooting found on most digital SLR cameras: exposure control, composition, motion and portrait photography, downloading, printing, Photoshop manipulation, and photo presentation. Students should provide their own digital SLR camera with a charged battery. A small number of cameras can be provided by the class; please contact Mr. Warden as soon as possible if one is needed.

  • Teen Studio: Oil Painting

    Oil paint is a beautiful and versatile medium. A painting foundation will be presented that can easily be built upon for pursuits beyond this class. Students will create a series of paintings with the instructor that will cover a variety of subjects and painting techniques. Drawing will be taught as it applies to the subjects illustrated. Students will work from life when we take a trip outdoors to paint, and they will learn ways to look within themselves for inspiration in more intuitive painting exercises.

  • The 28th Annual Virginia All-Star Soccer Camp

    The longest running and most enjoyable coed soccer camp in Virginia Beach returns for its 28th year of camp instruction. We take great pride in offering the best soccer camp experience in Hampton Roads. Our facilities include four plush green soccer fields, six air-conditioned courts for indoor soccer, an air-conditioned auditorium with large-screen projection for rest and film sessions, and a spacious cafeteria serving hot lunch daily. Our camp staff is comprised of highly trained professional, college, and high school players and coaches who are positive role models and understand our camp philosophy of learning the game of soccer in a clean, safe, and enjoyable atmosphere. Our staff prides itself on creating positive and long-lasting relationships with campers and parents. From the beginning player to the advanced player, the curriculum is designed to teach skills and strategies used at the individual and team levels. Each day begins with fundamental instruction and follows a planned sequence of activities that builds confidence and enthusiasm for the game of soccer. We offer an action-packed week where players leave feeling great about their camp experience. Full-day campers receive lunch and drinks daily, while half-day campers receive a snack and drink daily. All campers receive a camp ball, T-shirt, water bottle, bag, and a medal. Daily awards are presented for hustle, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

  • Upper School Health

    This program is focused on exploring the many facets of leading a fulfilling, healthy, and productive lifestyle. At this exciting, intense, and difficult stage of life, we will learn and discuss serious social, emotional, physical and societal concerns. Topics include: illegal substances, growth and development, physical activity, nutrition, preventing violence and abuse, and mental and emotional development. Students will also complete the American Heart Association’s curriculum for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Classroom Health sessions run from 8:00 a.m. - noon on Monday through Friday of each week, and office hours are available from noon - 1:00 p.m. for extra help.

  • Upper School Summer Academic Workshops

    Pressed for time and need to get your summer assignments finished? Have questions about the work or need assistance working through a problem? Then this workshop is for you! Instead of waiting until the last minute, set aside this time to work on your assignments. This workshop is designed to take the pressure off of you and your parents. Teachers are available to help you and answer questions you may have.
