  • Art Adventures: Jewelry Jumpstart

    Do you have a passion for jewelry? Have you always wanted to make your own design come to life, creating a new, trendy style? If so, this is the camp for you! Learn the basics of working with wire, string, polymer clay, and metal stamping. Be creative with all kinds of materials, recycling old goods into brand new, ready-to-wear jewelry. You will be able to put your own unique twist on each creation in this fun-filled program!

  • Babysitting

    Would you like to become a certified babysitter? An instructor from CPR Anywhere! will instruct boys and girls ages 9 to 14 in the skills of being a confident sitter. This three-day camp will instruct campers in childcare skills, including feeding and bathing a baby, changing a diaper, infant and child CPR, basic first aid, talking to potential clients, and much more. At the end, you will be awarded a certificate and card that you can show to prove you are a certified babysitter! Maximum of 15 campers at each session–so sign up early!

  • CodeREV: Modding in Minecraft Game Design Macro

    If your child feels ready for the next step in their coding instruction, Modding in Minecraft Game Design MACRO is the camp for them. Students will create powerful teleporting swords, humorous blocks, amazing mobs, bows that shoot arrows that summon ender dragons, entire worlds, and other insane items, all through the power of Java programming! Perfect for both the beginning coder and the advanced Java modding aficionado, Modding is our most popular Macro class!

  • Dance Intensive

    This one-week summer Dance Intensive runs for three hours, five days a week. Each day camp consists of one hour of ballet, one hour of jazz (contemporary or modern) and 45 minutes of choreography. Dance Intensive is intended for those who are strongly driven to excel in dance and wish to improve their technical skills, muscle strength, and power.

  • Dodgeball

    Join us for our ultra-popular program that includes several crazy, fun versions of the game dodgeball! The emphasis is on fun, teamwork, and exercise. This camp helps develop agility, speed, and good body awareness as well as powers of analysis and problem-solving skills. Campers will work on throwing, catching, and ball-shielding skills in addition to dodging skills, all while using new-coated foam dodgeballs. These balls are perfect for safe, FUN play! We supply all equipment. Wear gym shoes and bring a snack and a water bottle.

  • Dolphin All-Star Baseball: Hitting/Pitching Camp

    The CHC Hitting Camp will cover all the bases from approach and sound mechanics to pitch selection and situational hitting. Campers will learn there is more to being a quality hitter than just having a good swing. The staff will break down every aspect of being an effective offensive player. The coaching staff for this camp will range from high school, college, and professional experience, and it will offer you the best instruction available. CHC Varsity Baseball Head Coach Tim Hummel spent seven professional seasons with the Cincinnati Reds, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, and St. Louis Cardinals, and looks forward to sharing his experiences to help you achieve your goals in this great game. Grab your bat, and we will see you at the ballpark!

    Strike one, the most important pitch in baseball! Come join us for the CHC Pitching Camp so you can get ahead in the count. CHC Pitching/Assistant Coach Bill Chadwick offers a tremendous coaching staff for this camp ranging from high school, college, and professional experience. This camp will cover pitching from A to Z, from mental approach and delivery mechanics to holding runners and fielding the position. Coach Chadwick looks forward to sharing his experiences with you to help you achieve your goals and stay ahead in the count!

  • Dolphin All-Star Field Hockey Camp

    Coaches will focus on fundamentals and small number situations, add some full field games and mix in plenty of fun. Campers will be grouped based on age and ability. Cape Henry’s state-of-the-art turf complex provides a true playing surface for field hockey. No tall grass or mud puddles. Plenty of air-conditioned indoor space means that camp will never be rained out or shortened due to high heat index or poor air quality. The air-conditioned gymnasium provides an opportunity for campers to learn the indoor game as well as the outdoor game–it’s like two camps in one! Recently, Camp Director, Mrs. Kristen Wheeler, completed her 15th season as Cape Henry’s Varsity Head Coach. During her tenure she led her teams to 15 consecutive state tournament appearances, captured five State Championship Titles, earned four TCIS Coach of the Year honors, three TCIS Championship Titles, and two TCIS Regular Season Titles. Don’t miss this phenomenal field hockey opportunity!

  • Dolphin Boys Lacrosse Camp

    Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the country at the youth and high school levels; don’t miss out on the action-packed fun the sport offers. The camp is run by Cape Henry Varsity Boys Lacrosse Head Coach and former UVA Men's Lacrosse Midfielder, Mr. Joe Thompson, along with current and former CHC players, all of whom have a passion for the game. Our philosophy is that to love the game, you must respect your competition and have fun playing, and that is what we strive for everyday. The focus of the camp is to learn fundamental skills while enjoying the excitement of the game, and to benefit from the camaraderie and lessons that lacrosse offers. Beginning and experienced campers will enjoy skill-building sessions, counselor demonstrations, and the opportunity to test their skills in numerous game-like scenarios. All players are required to wear full lacrosse equipment (helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves, and lacrosse stick).

  • Dolphin Girls Lacrosse Camp

    The Cape Henry Girls Lacrosse program looks forward to hosting a fun-filled week of camp that will suit the development of beginners through elite level players. CHC lacrosse staff and players will instruct on the basic fundamentals of the game to meet each athlete at her ability level. Basic fundamentals will be put to use in small-sided competitions, full field games, and other skill building activities. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to hone your lacrosse skills on CHC’s state-of-the-art facilities, including a full-size turf field, air-conditioned indoor play, auditorium film sessions, and more. Campers will leave excited about the sport of lacrosse, thanks to a week of engaging play.

  • Dolphin Tennis Academy

    The Cape Henry Collegiate Tennis program is excited to offer the Dolphin Tennis Academy with PTR-certified Head Coach Diane Deaton. During the tennis sessions, beginner and novice campers will learn the proper way to hold and swing a racquet, as well as basic ball drills and games. Advanced tennis players will work on strategy, court positioning, and shot selection, and they will be matched up with camp staff who are current or former high school or college players. Campers will enjoy individual and small-group lessons as they build upon initial success and develop a lifelong love of tennis! Campers will participate daily in light ball drills and supervised match play, and all levels of play are invited.

  • Dolphin Wrestling Camps

    Cape Henry Collegiate wrestling is excited to offer two unique, five-day wrestling camps. The camps will be held in the spacious, air-conditioned Clarke Family Wrestling Room. CHC wrestling camps are founded on a developmental and competitive approach that centers on technique, competition, and games. Head Coach Jack Effner is committed to the total development of each camper. Campers will not only learn how to wrestle, they will have fun and be challenged to improve.

    Youth Wrestling Camp
    The Youth Camp will feature CHC Coaches Jack Effner and Joe Harvich along with First Colonial Coach Will Stravino. This program is geared towards Lower to Middle School aged campers. Wrestlers will learn the basics through skill training and practice sessions. They will be physically challenged through sport specific games, competitions, and great fun! Participating in this camp will improve your strength, conditioning, technique, and competitive spirit. Sign up early as the camp is limited to the first 36 registered wrestlers.

  • Drobots: Drone Mission Mania

    It’s all about drone missions as campers will learn the basics of drone technology and safety before taking to the air to fly and code the drones through an abundance of missions. Throughout the week, Instructors will pose various challenges that the campers must solve using drones. Missions include: Connect 4, Drone Basketball, King Kong, International Space Station Drone Docking, Harry The Hiker, and more. Students work all week long to prepare for the most enjoyable part of the week: the Ultimate Drone Games where students collaborate, strategize, and create their own drone missions and then compete against one another. Participants will use the SWIFT programming language to accomplish many of these missions. All campers go home with interactive workbooks and plenty of Drobots Company keepsakes and trinkets so the memories last long beyond the summer. Drone safety and the social responsibilities of flying drones are emphasized in this program. Drobots will provide all equipment for this camp.

  • Drobots: Drone Racing and Obstacle Challenge

    Drone Racing is filled with pure action as students enjoy one of the world’s fastest growing sports, drone racing. Campers will first learn about the basic safety of drone flying and the history behind drone racing as a sport. From there, campers will progress through various skill challenges and learn how to perform various exercises and maneuvers to become familiar with the drone’s speed and agility. Flight squads post up against one another in friendly competition when they race themselves and the clock. Students first maneuver the drone through creative obstacle courses before taking on the challenge of flying for speed. Participants contribute fully in this program as they create the design and help build the the obstacle course in preparation for the last day’s final activities and competition.. All campers go home with interactive workbooks and plenty of Drobots Company keepsakes and trinkets so the memories last long beyond the summer. Drone safety and social responsibilities of flying are emphasized in this program. Drobots will provide all equipment for this camp.

  • iMade a Movie

    Have you always wanted to make your own videos? Join us for a fun-filled week of video capturing and editing. You will become a video professional, shooting and editing your own cool videos in iMovie! We will add music, sound effects, transitions, and text to movies. You can even learn to make a video in slow motion! Beginners and experts are all invited to join in the fun world of moviemaking.

  • Middle School Summer Academic Workshops

    Get prepared for the new school year by diving into reading/writing and mathematics. The “Reading/Writing Workshop” helps students become power readers and writers, increasing their phonetic skills, comprehension strategies, and writing abilities. Students respond to reading through a variety of creative channels including verbal, written, and hands-on activities. Diverse reading selections from the CHC Summer Reading Lists and other literary choices ensure an enjoyable and stimulating reading performance. Students choose topics of their own interest and imagination to enjoy creative and expressive writing. The “Math Workshop” teaches students math concepts and problem-solving skills with meaningful connections that illustrate the value of mathematics to their world. The instruction and reinforcement of activities concentrate on preparing students for the rigors of the mathematics curriculum for the coming year. The students split their time between the two blocks on a daily basis and will have the opportunity to work on their required summer reading, writing, and math assignments.

  • Outbreak Volleyball Camp

    The Volleyball Camp covers all aspects of the game of volleyball with an emphasis on fundamentals and game situation play. The camp welcomes players of all ability levels, from beginner to experienced, and players will be grouped by skill to better meet the individual needs of each participant. The technique and skills taught in this camp are designed to provide and improve upon the foundation that allows participants to develop into high-level athletes in the future. All basic skills will be covered including passing, setting, hitting, serving, defense, blocking, and offensive and defensive systems. Campers will also have the opportunity to dig deep and work hard in a positive and encouraging environment.

  • Sylvan: Video Game Coding

    Campers will learn computer programming through engaging, hands-on projects like animating stories and creating video games. Kids begin experimenting with visual blocks, then progress to JavaScript and Python as they design games, build apps, and make incredible projects.   • Teen Studio: Airbrush

    Come explore your artistic side with the power of an airbrush at your fingertips! Working with an airbrush is a wonderfully exciting and creative experience. You will learn how to paint popular airbrush subjects like sunsets, seascapes, pillow hearts, space scenes, animal and people portraits, names and letterforms, flowers, and many other creative exercises designed to pull out the artist in you.

    Do you have an interest in the visual arts and look forward to trying new things?   • Teen Studio: Ceramics

    Artists will envelop themselves in the world of clay while learning the techniques and tools commonly used in ceramics. Students will create imaginative works using a variety of methods, including hand building, modeling, hollowing, extrusion and slab building, wheel throwing, press molding, slip casting, and glazing.

  • Teen Studio: Darkroom Photography

    Young photographers become dynamic designers with the medium of light as they explore black-and-white darkroom photography as well as digital SLR photography. This class will cover composition, pinhole and SLR cameras, shooting and processing 35mm film, enlarging prints, burning and dodging, photograms, solarizing, toning, hand-coloring, digital manipulation, and photo presentation. Parents should attempt to locate an old SLR or point-and-shoot film camera with a good battery. If there isn’t a film camera already in the family, please don’t purchase one. Some cameras can be provided by the class, so contact Mr. Warden if one is needed.

  • Teen Studio: Digital Photography

    Students will learn the fundamentals of digital photography and computer-aided manipulation. This class will cover various modes of shooting found on most digital SLR cameras: exposure control, composition, motion and portrait photography, downloading, printing, Photoshop manipulation, and photo presentation. Students should provide their own digital SLR camera with a charged battery. A small number of cameras can be provided by the class; please contact Mr. Warden as soon as possible if one is needed.

  • Teen Studio: Oil Painting

    Oil paint is a beautiful and versatile medium. A painting foundation will be presented that can easily be built upon for pursuits beyond this class. Students will create a series of paintings with the instructor that will cover a variety of subjects and painting techniques. Drawing will be taught as it applies to the subjects illustrated. Students will work from life when we take a trip outdoors to paint, and they will learn ways to look within themselves for inspiration in more intuitive painting exercises.

    The longest running and most enjoyable coed soccer camp in Virginia Beach returns for its 28th year of camp instruction. We take great pride in offering the best soccer camp experience in Hampton Roads. Our facilities include four plush green soccer fields, six air-conditioned courts for indoor soccer, an air-conditioned auditorium with large-screen projection for rest and film sessions, and a spacious cafeteria serving hot lunch daily. Our camp staff is comprised of highly trained professional, college, and high school players and coaches who are positive role models and understand our camp philosophy of learning the game of soccer in a clean, safe, and enjoyable atmosphere. Our staff prides itself on creating positive and long-lasting relationships with campers and parents. From the beginning player to the advanced player, the curriculum is designed to teach skills and strategies used at the individual and team levels. Each day begins with fundamental instruction and follows a planned sequence of activities that builds confidence and enthusiasm for the game of soccer. We offer an action-packed week where players leave feeling great about their camp experience. Full-day campers receive lunch and drinks daily, while half-day campers receive a snack and drink daily. All campers receive a camp ball, T-shirt, water bottle, bag, and a medal. Daily awards are presented for hustle, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

  • Theater for the Actor

    This two-week program will strengthen the skills of the actor. We will focus on age-appropriate scene work, guided improvisation, voice projection, singing, and dancing. This invigorating camp will help performers fine tune their confidence, talent, and creativity. On the last day, students will perform before an audience.
