The game of Kings has been around for centuries, and there are a ton of reasons why! Students will learn and compete to increase critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as improve mathematical and logical reasoning. Participants will also learn how each piece moves, strategies, tactics, castling, en passant, promotions, and much more. Beginners will develop a love of the game while advanced players will gain experience to take their game to another level. Students will benefit from individual instruction, as well as enjoy competing in a class tournament.

If you love to write stories or poetry, join our bi-weekly group and enjoy creative writing activities and challenges. Middle School writers will explore various prompts - fiction, description, opinion, and photo - and experiment with different styles of writing. During our last session, participants will be encouraged to display their best creative writing on the Middle School hallway bulletin board. Additionally, students will select pieces to share with the Cape Henry Community through a digital link in the Dolphin Digest.
