As one of 93 graduates in the Class of 2018, Andrew Marscheider has a bright future ahead. Drew has taken advantage of the many possibilities and opportunities that Cape Henry has to offer and will be attending Old Dominion University in the fall. Old Dominion University seems to be the perfect fit for Drew. He visited many other schools such as Virginia Military Institute and Christopher Newport University, but Old Dominion University sits close enough to home so he can continue to work with his father throughout college. Working with his father will hopefully set his path for his future profession and open many doors to his dream job as a real estate developer.
Paul Horgan, Head of the Upper School, shared that “Drew returned to Cape Henry after leaving for a year and has found his way. He is off to college next year well prepared to succeed. At his best, he is talented, charismatic and capable of great things. He is a caring big brother and has always had the desire to be his best self. I have very high hopes for Drew.”
The faculty speak highly of Drew’s work ethic and potential, because they know when he puts his best foot forward, he will be able to do amazing things. Greg Angilly, Director of Student Life, added, “I have enjoyed every opportunity I have had to interact with Drew. Some have been fun and casual, while others have involved more serious topics and concerns. In each encounter, I have been impressed with his honesty and ability to learn from what life presents. There will be obstacles in life - rocks in the path, so to speak. I am confident that Drew will handle these obstacles well, and he will add value to any community he is a part of moving forward.”
The compassionate side of Drew is apparent as well, especially when it comes to his brother. Brooke Hummel, Assistant Head of School, mentioned, “For those who don’t know, Drew has the most magical singing voice, although he is shy about showcasing it. He is also the proudest big brother I know. He sat front row at Nick’s piano recital cheering him on. He is such a good guy.”
Overall, Drew Marsheider has created a name for himself in the Cape Henry community for how he presents himself and how he really cares for those around him. Everyone at Cape Henry knows that the future promises great things for Drew.
