- Athlete of the Week
- Coed Track and Field
Marking his first year with Cape Henry Collegiate Track and Field, this week's Athlete of the Week quietly dominates competition, consistently seizing top-five finishes for the Dolphins.
With a knack for Track and Field, Sebastian Whitfield has already amassed five top-five finishes through his first three meets.
Earning two first-place finishes in the high jump to this point in the season, Whitfield is poised for a strong run in the VISAA State Championships beginning on May 21.
With the postseason rapidly approaching, Sebastian will first prepare for the upcoming TCIS Finals on May 10, 2022.
"As a freshman, Sebastian has shown an excellent work ethic and an aptitude for track and field. This past weekend, he jumped 5-08 in the high jump, coming in third place, and helped the 4x100 to a fourth-place finish," said Head Coach Kacie Voeller. "Highlighting his day, Sebastian captured his PR by nearly a foot in the triple jump to place 5th in a highly competitive meet with nearly 20 teams in attendance! He has demonstrated leadership and a positive attitude as he takes on his first track and field season."
With two meets remaining in the season, Sebastian is poised to demonstrate his elite skill set in the two most important meets of the season.
Honing his skills throughout the year and consistently improving each day, the Dolphins will lean heavily on Whitfield's incredible start to carry the Dolphins throughout the next two postseason meets.
Proving to be the stalwart early in his career, the Dolphins are excited for May 10 as Cape Henry Collegiate travels to Norfolk Academy for the TCIS Track and Field Finals beginning at 1:00 pm.
