What is it about Clemson University that Nick Hubbard finds attractive? Although due to the current situation he was unable to take a personal tour, the virtual tour via Zoom was impressive. He is drawn to the size of 20,000+ in the student body as well as the location in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Nick is considering the Business major program which is offered there. And don’t forget the sports! Go Tigers!
Of course, sports would attract Nick since he has been a three-sports athlete every year during Upper School at CHC, as a member of the volleyball, basketball, and tennis teams. And in the Middle School, he valued his time with Mr. David Cameron as his eighth grade basketball coach. Nick is also looking forward to enjoying the opportunity to attend football games at Clemson. As a bonus, his good friend Tyler Greason will be entering Clemson as well!
Although he is looking forward to meeting new people and experiencing college classes, having been at Cape Henry since sixth grade, Nick has appreciated Mr. McGraw, who has been his history teacher for the past two years. He is also grateful for Ms. Johnson, “my advisor, who really kept me on track,” and who leads the Peer Leadership program, of which he was a member during this past school year. In addition, Nick has valued being a member of the Crush Cancer Club.
In the spirit of Peer Leadership, Nick advises incoming freshmen to “stay focused and try hard all four years, because they all count.” We know you will get right down to business as you enter Clemson, Nick, and we look forward to hearing of your success!
