“Though she be but little, she is fierce!”
~ William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Brett Dudley is a petite young woman. But do not let her size fool you. She is fierce! She came to Cape Henry in middle school and made the most of the opportunities presented to her. As an upper school student, she was a member of the volleyball team and the Women’s Chorus as well as a Peer Leader.
“Why did you do all this for me? He asked. “I don’t deserve it. I’ve never done anything for you.”
“You have been my friend,” replied Charlotte. “That in itself is a tremendous thing.”
~ E. B. Webb, Charlotte’s Web
Being Brett’s friend is definitely a tremendous thing. She is there for her friends to make them laugh when they are sad, whether through a story, joke, or the interesting noises that she makes to entertain them. Brett and some of her friends strengthened their bond by being in the last two musicals.
Just a few months ago, she took the stage in Mamma Mia. She played Rosie, and the role was perfect for her. Rosie is a free spirit who is confident and funny...just like Brett. Last year, she was one of the sorority girls who supported and encouraged Elle Woods in Legally Blonde: The Musical. As a sorority girl, Brett’s fun loving, energetic spirit was on display.
And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!

~Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
Brett applied to several colleges, but knew where she wanted to go. In the fall, she will continue her education at Old Dominion University. While other schools offered strong academic programs and a variety of campus activities, ODU has something that the others don’t have. It’s close to home. Brett said that she is very close to her family and couldn’t imagine being far away from them. She has spent time on the campus, so she knows how to navigate it. Plus, she has friends there. These factors made ODU perfect for her. Brett wants to pursue a career in dentistry.
One thing is certain, no matter where you go or what you do, you’ll move mountains, Brett!
