Class of 2019: Tucker Bruner

By: Mr. Greg Angilly, Director of Student Life
Tucker Bruner will be headed home next year - to the great state of Colorado where he will be the 18th member of his family to attend Colorado State University! Born in the Rockies, Tucker is excited to be the first CHC student to attend CSU and he will leave behind a tradition of excellence when he leaves us this June.

Tucker arrived at Cape Henry Collegiate in the 3rd grade. He quickly acclimated to all things CHC and has fond memories of both lower and middle school. He enjoyed his Nexus adventure to St. Croix and recalls his trip to Idaho as being one of his favorite times at Cape Henry. Tucker’s ability to adapt to his surroundings and make the most of every opportunity arms him with the confidence to step into a new student body of 30,000 without knowing anyone - and remain confident he’ll be just fine. This is an admirable trait and one that will serve Mr. Bruner well for the years to come.
Tucker entered our upper school and immediately contributed to our varsity athletic program. His 4 years in our wrestling program are highlighted with an individual TCIS title as well as several TCIS team titles for the Dolphins. His teammates describe him as competitive and hard working and he consistently put the needs of his team ahead of his personal goals. This is also the case on the lacrosse field. Tucker is a face off specialist and has both accepted and excelled in his role, again putting the needs of the team ahead of his own. He’s truly a selfless young man.

In the classroom, Tucker has fond memories of his time in multiple classes with Mr. Facemire. He enjoyed the student and teacher interactions in “Face’s” classes and also enjoyed his time with Mr. Souther. He credits Mr. Rodgers with helping him recognize and understand how hard you need to work in a class to truly be successful.

Tucker is described by his friends as being selfless, loyal, witty, competitive, hard working and trustworthy. What a wonderful list of attributes to be known for! When asked what advice he’d give to someone entering our Upper School, Tucker replied, “Enjoy your time here at CHC - find some joy each and every day.” We’ve enjoyed our time with you Tucker Bruner and we can’t wait to see what you accomplish in your next chapter!
