Athletics is an integral and important part of a Cape Henry Collegiate education. Students enrolled in independent schools enjoy an increased opportunity to participate in athletics, and at Cape Henry Collegiate, physical education and athletic programs offer ample activities to cover the interests and capabilities of all students.
Cape Henry Collegiate fields 60 sports teams, and an average of 90% of our students participate in some form of organized athletics on the Middle School, junior varsity or varsity level. Properly conceived, directed and coached interscholastic athletics provides experiences that encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, commitment, self-discipline and leadership in Cape Henry athletes. The department places a strong emphasis on developing self-esteem while helping students experience the rigor and pleasure of athletics, the importance of cooperation and the value of competition.
Wellness of our entire student body is a priority at Cape Henry Collegiate. Balancing the demands of the classroom and extracurricular activities to include athletics is an important goal for the faculty and coaching staff. Student-athletes are also encouraged to participate in multiple sports and become involved with the Fine Arts Program. Participation and involvement in the community is valued on our campus.
Aspirations to compete at the collegiate level are also respected and facilitated as a group effort with the athlete, parents, coaches, Athletic Director, and Director of College Counseling. Approximately 15% of our graduating seniors have committed to play college sports.
Cape Henry Collegiate prides itself on Dolphin team spirit, and the support throughout our entire student body is palpable on our sidelines!
