The CHC Admissions Process

Lower School (Prekindergarten 3-Grade 5)

Prekindergarten (3 and 4-Year-Old Program)

Applicants must be age 2 years and 10 months by the first day of school and completely toilet trained.
Following the steps in the section "Application Process" below, complete the Application for Admissions. Parents will need to complete all sections of the Application for Admission and submit the $70 application fee.

Kindergarten

Applicants must be 5 years old by September 30.
Following the steps in the section "Application Process" below, complete the Application for Admissions. Parents will need to complete all sections of the Application for Admission and submit the $70 application fee.
The Kindergarten Admission Information - Teacher's Rating Form is an electronic form issued by the parent to the current teacher for completion. Instructions for the form will be provided upon receipt of your application for admission.
The family will be contacted to schedule an appointment for the student to come to the School for an individual developmental assessment test.

Transition and Grades 1 - 4

Following the steps in the section "Application Process" below, complete the Application for Admissions. Parents will need to complete all sections of the Application for Admission and submit the $70 application fee.
A Student Assessment form is an electronic form issued by the parent to the current teacher for completion. Instructions for the form will be provided upon receipt of your application for admission.
A Transcript and Records Request Form should be signed by the parent and submitted to the student’s school. (All records must be translated into English, if not already.)
The family will be contacted and given an appointment for the student to come to the School for an individual developmental/aptitude assessment test.

Grade 5

Following the steps in the section "Application Process" below, complete the Application for Admissions. Parents will need to complete all sections of the Application for Admission and submit the $70 application fee.

The student must register to take the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) at Cape Henry Collegiate. Registration for the ISEE must be completed by contacting Mrs. Angie Finley, Assistant Director of Admissions at angiefinley@capehenry.org or (757) 963-8234. ISEE testing dates for 2024-2025 are December 7, January 11 and 18, February 1 and 8, and March 15.

Middle School (Grades 6-8)

Following the steps in the section "Application Process" below, complete the Application for Admissions. Parents will need to complete all sections of the Application for Admission and submit the $70 application fee.
The student must complete the Candidate Questionnaire, which consists of four short essays that allow us to get to know the student through his or her writing.
Three Student Assessment forms are required to be completed by current teachers. These forms are electronic and issued by the parent to the current teachers for completion. Instructions for the form will be provided upon receipt of your application for admission. English and Math assessments are required.
The student must register to take the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) at Cape Henry Collegiate. Any student applying for the Laila Serpe Distinguished Scholar or other merit scholarships must take the ISEE exam by February 8, 2024.

Application Deadlines

Cape Henry Collegiate accepts applications throughout the year, however, the following timeline applies:

November 15

Preferred Deadline for Completed Applications for Prekindergarten - Grade 1.

February 15

Preferred Deadline for Completed Applications for all other grades. Admission is on a space-available basis; please apply early as spaces are limited.

March 1

Deadline for Financial Aid Applications. Applications submitted after March 1 will be considered if funds remain available.

If you are current parent, alumni, or employee, please log in to MyCompass using your previously established login credentials. You will be asked to fill out brief information about the candidate.

If you are new to Cape Henry, please select Create Account. Fill out the easy form with candidate information and other details. After you establish the new account, you will receive an email with a link to set your password. After you set your password, you will be redirected to the online application.

Step 2

Next, you will answer a series of question to complete our Application for Admission.

Step 3

After you complete the application and submit the application fee, you will return to the Admissions Progress page. If you need to apply for an additional child, click on Apply Another Candidate in the right column.
