Nexus Global Studies

Focused on developing 21st-century skills, the Nexus curriculum includes a diverse and dynamic variety of global studies courses, clubs, speakers and activities. In weekly Skype sessions, students join in collaborative classroom projects with students from around the world, fostering the understanding of other nations and cultures.

Language and cultural immersion programs allow students to develop advanced foreign language and communication skills in real-world settings. It results in a higher level of proficiency and a deeper understanding of cultural differences. 

An integral component of the Nexus Global Studies program, Service Learning integrates meaningful community service with instruction to enrich the educational experience, teach civic responsibility and strengthen communities. Students use what they learn in the classroom to solve real-life problems and become actively contributing members of the community. Through Service Learning, Cape Henry students are empowered to change the world for the better, in ways both large and small.

Immersive local and international field-learning experiences combine academic, language and service-learning components. Designed to take students out of their comfort zones, they broaden a student’s outlook, attitude and aptitude providing Cape Henry students with a uniquely informed and sophisticated perspective on the world around them.

Cape Henry is one of a few elite schools in the nation to offer this program, which allows Grade 9-12 students to earn a Global Scholar distinction on their diploma with completion of a prescribed curriculum and additional requirements.
