Program Highlights
Common Experience
Each week, the counselors meet with the seniors (fall) or juniors (spring) to delve into the conversations that surround the college process. From resume building, major exploration, and interview practice to working on essays, applications, and even discussing stress and rejection, these meetings help Cape Henry students both learn more about themselves and put into motion the steps necessary to apply to college.
Class Scheduling
Every March, the college counselors meet individually with every Grade 9, 10, and 11 student to help them plan their courses for the following year. The counselors guide students as they explore their interests while also ensuring students are taking the courses appropriate for them and their goals.
Individual Student and Family Meetings
With two full-time college counselors and one full-time administrative assistant, the office is able to spend time getting to know each student and family. Junior year, they work together as a counselor-student-parent team to craft a college list tailored to each individual.
